Team Fastline has packed up the EMCEA transporter and is heading west for the Edmonton leg of the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series.
And for team driver Jim Lapcevich of Grimsby ON, he will be returning to the track where he has experienced success.
“I really enjoy the Edmonton course, ” said Jim, driver of the #25 EMCEA Transport – Tim Hortons Fastline Motorsports Chevrolet Monte Carlo. “It’s a challenging course, but I believe my racing experience here will help. ”
Brother and teammate Jeff Lapcevich will not be competing at Edmonton.
This event, the Rexall Grand Prix of Edmonton July 20-21, is the fifth in the 12-race series, and the competition will take place on the 1.96-mile, 14-turn road course at the City Center Airport.
Although Lapcevich has more experience on the ovals the stock car series usually runs, he said he enjoys turning both ways on a race track, and has picked up some tips from older brother Jeff, who won the event here last year.
“Jeff has given me lots of pointers on the road circuits we go to, ” said Jim, who placed 10th in this event last year. “But as with every race, I’m going to go out there, try and stay out of trouble, and get the best finish possible. ”
