Driving an unfamiliar car at a track he had never seen until Friday, 17-year-old Wood Brothers/JTG Racing developmental driver John Wes Townley looked like a seasoned veteran Saturday night when he piloted the No. 3 Zaxby’s/BB&T/PFG Miltons/Coca-Cola/Lang Signs/Athens Quality Glass Chevrolet to an impressive 10th-place finish in the NASCAR Busch East Series Greased Lightning 150 at historic Greenville-Pickens Speedway.

Driving a Chevy for Mooresville, North Carolina based STI Motorsports, Townley qualified a solid 20th out of the 39 drivers on hand for Saturday evening’s 30-car field season opener. After climbing as high as 13th by the halfway point of the event, Townley cut a right-front tire exiting Turn 2 on lap 84. Despite receiving quick service on pit road, Townley was trapped one lap behind the leaders when the race resumed six laps later.
