Josh Butler, sixteen-year-old race driver from Matthews, added another top five in the Allison Legacy series with his fourth-place finish firmly placing him third in points for the race series.
“The car was pretty loose in qualifying, ” said Butler. “The sun was right in our eyes in Three and Four and I had trouble seeing so I only qualified tenth, which for some people would be good, but we were extremely disappointed.
“Friendship is more a sit and wait track because it’s so narrow, ” he continued. “We worked our way up to fifth and I made a couple of mistakes and dropped back to tenth, then worked back up again. ” He indicated that with a longer final run or without the mistakes, his car was faster than all but the winners and could probably have given him a run for the win.
Butler’s next race and the next race for the Allison Legacy series, is scheduled for June 2 and Peach State Speedway in Jefferson, Ga. “I’ve only run there once, ” said Butler. “We’re hoping that with a solid setup and the experience I’ve gained, we’ll be able to give everyone a run for their money. ”
