Nick Tucker, substituting for car owner Roger Carter II salvaged a 30th place finish in last Saturday s Nashville ARCA 150 at Nashville Superspeedway, the third event of the 2007 ARCA RE/MAX Series season.
Tucker made his second career ARS (ARCA RE/MAX Series) start under frigid temperatures for April behind the wheel of the No. 48 FreeFeds.org Dodge Charger.
After losing their primary motor in the practice session leading up to qualifying, the Carter-2-Motorsports team quickly went to their driver s aid replacing the motor with the team s backup. While the second motor wasn t as strong as the first, the team was confident the horsepower would give Tucker a shot at making the first of two ARCA trips to Nashville Superspeedway this season.
In time trials, Tucker produced a lap time of 31.784 seconds at 150.982 MPH picking up nearly two seconds from his practice effort (33.665 seconds, 142.546 MPH) putting the team 37th in the final rundown. While the C2M team was outside the top-32 qualifiers locked into the starting grid on time, the team relied on their owner points from the 2006 ARCA RE/MAX Series season which earned the team the 39th starting spot locking the team into their second straight race.
“I m glad that we re in the race,” said Tucker, a native of North Carolina. “My Carter-2-Motorsports team worked their tails off making sure that we had a chance at making this race. Our second motor showed that we have a good car. Now that we re in the show, we re going to turn all of our efforts on the race.
