NELSON Mandela celebrated his 90th birthday in London’s Hyde Park with an A-list dinner party boasting a guest list of 520 celebrities and world leaders. At the dinner there were enough stars - from Sir Elton John to Robert De Niro, from Uma Thurman to Neil Diamond - and statesmen to put most Hollywood gatherings to shame.
And the stars certainly brought along their cash, raising more than £5 million for Mandela’s many charities.
Lewis Hamilton and Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger arrived at the bash, which helped raise money for Mandela’s AIDS charity, together.
The party took place in a specially erected marquee in Hyde Park, just behind the stage where Mandela’s 90th birthday concert takes place tomorrow night. It was decorated with a kitsch African theme - including an orange carpet, zebra-patterned plates and leopard print glasses.
