Lorz Motorsports has wrapped up the points chasing end of the 2007 racing season in the ASA Late Model Series Northern Division Presented by GM Performance Parts. The Midlothian, Illinois based team with drivers Dave Gentile Jr., and Mike Osgar saw them finish Ninth (Gentile Jr. ) and 16th (Osgar) respectively in the final points tallies.
In the 2007 ASALMS Northern Division Season Championships / Oktoberfest 100 at the LaCrosse (WI) Fairgrounds Speedway in West Salem, Wisconsin on October 6, 2007 during the 38th annual Oktoberfest Weekend, neither of the Lorz machines made the starting field for the 100 lap Feature!
“This is very hard to take! The second half of the 2007 season was nothing at all like the first half. ” Stated Lorz Motorsports Owner, Mike Lorz. “Things were looking pretty good in the first half and we were leading the overall and rookie chases with Dave (Gentile Jr. ), then we went to the Michigan Doubles and everything started to fall apart and we never recovered. ” Explained Lorz.
“It’s just so frustrating, we had great cars at Hawkeye Downs and I-70 and we thought for sure we’d get right back into the title hunt. But bad luck hit us hard at both places. ” Continued Lorz. “First the toggle switch at Hawkeye Downs and then the crash at I-70, we just never could recover and then we didn’t even make the show with either car at LaCrosse; I tell you that was really hard on us. ” He added.
