Brands Hatch is bringing in the heavyweights for the end of the 2007 racing season, as the mighty Truck Race Superprix comes to the circuit on the 3/4 November.
The most powerful vehicles to visit Brands Hatch this year, each truck weighs over five tons, yet can accelerate to 100mph faster than a Porsche 911. Truck racing is always a marvelous spectacle, with super-sized machines defying their size and weight by power-sliding around the track with surprising agility.
This is the final round of the 2007 Delphi British Truck Racing Championship, and two categories of truck will race together, Class A and Class B. Races get underway with a rolling start and each truck is limited to a maximum speed of 100mph to encourage safe, closely fought action.
The title chase is going down to the wire in both categories. In Class A, six-times British champion Stuart Oliver currently leads by nine points over nearest rival Chris Levett, but with 20 points available over the Brands Hatch weekend, racing will be tight to the very end. Further down the grid, Class B drivers Graham Powell and Gary George are separated by just two points.
As well as exciting racing action, the weekend will also feature 150 of the country’s finest showtrucks on display. American Classics, European Customised Trucks and the Working Trucks visible on Britain’s roads will all be on show.
