Michael Annett powered his #12 TMC Transportation Ford Fusion to an impressive third place finish at the Berlin Raceway on June 16, 2007 in the ASA Late Model Series’ Challenge Division’s “Tradition 200”.
In only his second appearance at the demanding 0.437-mile track, the now 21-year-old Hawkeye native patiently used his skills to edge out series veterans and Berlin regulars who have a lot of laps at the track where finesse is essential.
The Black & Chrome #12 qualified a strong second and started fifth after the invert. Annett remained focused on the early charges and aggressiveness that often plagues young drivers. In spite of the fast pace, Annett showed veteran maturity as he avoided potentially reckless situations and primed himself to be in contention as the checkered flag approached.
Annett’s patience also paid off by advancing two spots in the championship points’ standings and is now only 66 points out of fifth place. Annett and the TMC Racing Team will return to action on June 29-30, 2007, north of the border for the ASA Late Model Series’ Challenge Division’s visit to Cayuga (ON) Speedway Park for the “Canada 200”.
