Mike Balzano and E1 Racing topped off their 2007 Mid-Atlantic Championship Series (MACS) campaign at the ‘Big Kahuna’ at ‘The Rock’ Allegany County Speedway in Cumberland, MD and followed up with a trip to the Dirt Track @ Lowe’s Motor Speedway in Charlotte, NC.
The ‘Floodwall Flyer’ Mike Balzano wrapped up the 2007 MACS season on Friday and Saturday, October 5th and 6th. On Friday Mike finished second in his heat to transfer him to the night’s A-Main. Balzano started the event on the inside of the second row and finished the event in the same spot he started, third, behind race winner Jason Covert and runner-up Steve Casebolt. The following night saw Mike again finish second in his heat and fifth in the dash. After starting fifth in the feature Balzano faded to an 11th place finish locking him into the third spot in the 2007 MACS points battle behind series champion Jason Covert and second place ‘Hot’ Rod Conley.
Balzano then made the mid-week trip to the World of Outlaws sanctioned ‘Jani-King Southern Showdown’ at the Dirt Track @ Lowe’s Motor Speedway. Mike finished his heat in the second spot behind Scott Bloomquist and started on the pole of the 50-lap main event. Balzano finished the event in second despite having a flat tire on his Polino Contractors / Eddie’s Auto Parts / Hoosier Racing Tires / Rocket Chassis / Cornett Racing Engines Monte Carlo on the ninth lap and coming from the rear of the field.
Mike will head to Skyline Speedway on Saturday, October 13th for an Independent Racing Series sanctioned event paying $5,000 to the winner. On Friday and Saturday, October 19th and 20th Balzano will head to KC Raceway for the $50,000 to win, 27th Annual Dirt Track World Championship presented by Arizona Sport Shirts.
