The momentum built from his 2006 Championship season has run into the early stages of the 2007 season as everything seemed to go right for the York Haven, PA driver at Williams Grove Speedway. “We pulled a good pill at the beginning of the night which helped us in the heat. Then we pulled the number “3” in the re-draw to put us in the 3rd starting position for the night. ” commented Covert on the way things worked out. “We were then able to get a great start at the beginning of the race and take the lead. I felt Steve (Casebolt) behind me towards the end of the race but we were both running the bottom which really gave Steve no opportunity to get by me. ” Jason continued by saying, “Brian (Klinedinst) and the whole crew did a great job giving me a car to drive. The driver may have been a bit rusty but the crew sure wasn t. It s just an honor to be able to win a race at Williams Grove. I ve ran second there so many times, it s nice to finally get a win there. ”
Jason also commented on how great it was to work with Robbie Allen in his season opener, “Robbie was actually at the track with Casebolt but both Robbie and Steve helped us out getting the setup under the car. It s great to have guys like that at the racetrack to give you a hand. ”
Covert and crew were scheduled to race at Challenger Speedway for the annual “Spring Fest” but inclement weather kept the team in the garage the rest of the weekend.
