O’Reilly NARA Battle of The Bluegrass Series Jumps Back Into Action



With one of the most competitive weeks of racing, the second Annual Kentucky Speedweek, recently in the books the O’Reilly NARA Battle of the Bluegrass Series presented by Arizona Sport Shirt jumps back into action this Saturday, June 16th with the 6th Annual June Jam at Bluegrass Speedway in Bardstown, KY.

The night will play out in traditional O’Reilly Battle of the Bluegrass fashion with Racing Optics Time Trials, Mason Racin’/Arizona Sport Shirts Heats, Design 500 B-Mains, and the 30-lap, $3000 to win 6th Annual June Jam A-main. Previous winners of the June Jam include Eddie Carrier, Jr. of Salt Rock, WV in 2002 and Darrell Lanigan of Union, KY in 2003. The event was rained out in 2004 and 2005, with Brad Neat of Dunnville, KY winning the June Jam in 2006.

The Series rolls into 12th event of the 2007 looking to crown its 11th different A-Main winner of the season. With 11 events behind the nation’s most competitive regional Series, already 10 different drivers have called victory lane home. Martinsville, Indiana’s Don O’Neal is the only driver to park in victory lane more than one time and is the most recent O’Reilly Battle of the Bluegrass event winner at Bluegrass Speedway.

The purse for the 6th Annual June Jam is as follows: 1. $3,000, 2. 1500, 3. 1000, 4. 800, 5. 750, 6. 700, 7. 650, 8. 600, 9. 550, 10. 500, 11. 450, 12. 400, 13. 350, 14. 350, 15. 325, 16. 325, 17. 300, 18. 300, 19. 300, 20. 300, 21. 300, 22. 300, 23. 250 and 24. 250.

Heading into the event at Bluegrass Speedway, Mike Marlar leads the points battle with 276 markers over Stanford, KY’s Victor Lee. Verona, KY’s Jerry Rice trails Lee by a mere 90 ticks. Currently fourth in O’Reilly Battle of the Bluegrass points is Cruise with the Champions Rookie of the Year points leader Jason Keltner with hard charger Tyrel Todd rounding out the top five. Less than 150 points separate sixth through tenth in points. Leading the battle in sixth is David Webb with barely 43 clicks over Campbellsville, KY’s Tim Tungate in seventh. Chris Combs rides along in eighth only 42 points behind Tungate. Rounding out the top ten are Michael Chilton and Justin Ratliff.
