Paul Tuthill had this weekend off in the Allison Legacy North Series, so he jumped behind the wheel of the No. 8 Late Model owned by Wayne Kirkpatrick and brought home a tenth-place finish at Mountain Speedway on Saturday night.
The 16 year-old driver started in 16th position and quietly worked his way through the field. Since it was the first time in this car, he decided to play it safe and use this opportunity to try to learn for upcoming races. Playing it safe would pay off for the Washingtonville, NY teen, bringing the car home in one piece and into the top ten.
“I was just riding around trying to feel the car and stayed patient all night long, ” commented Tuthill after the race. “I came home with a top ten finish, so it wasn’t a bad day. ”
Tuthill plans on running several more Late Model races this season in addition to the rest of the Allison Legacy North Series schedule where he is currently sitting third in the points battle. Tuthill will swap schedules next year and will move up to the late model full time, filling in his off weeks with the Legacy series.
Tuthill’s next race will be at Lee USA Speedway in his No. 81 Bobcat Turf Allison Legacy car this Friday night.
Tuthill is being helped in his career by training from Future Stars in Racing Training and Development Academy. The Academy helps prepare young drivers for success outside the car in public speaking, sponsor presentations, working with the media and behavior on and off the track.
