McGilton Returns to Windy City Ready to Wrap Up Illinois Tour With a Bang
With a handful of track debuts in his back pocket, ARCA RE/MAX Series Rookie Phillip McGilton returns this weekend to the Chicagoland Speedway, a familiar track where he raced last year and logged practice laps in recent weeks. After disappointing top-15 finishes at Gateway and DuQuoin, McGilton is ready to take the Windy City by storm and the No. 47 SI Performance Ford back to the front of the pack.
“I’m looking forward to being back at Chicagoland this weekend, ” commented McGilton. “I raced here last year and we were here testing a few weeks ago. It’s a fun track to run on. We should be strong this weekend. Last weekend was just so frustrating. We had a great car at Gateway… a real rocket! But those last restarts with only fourth gear just killed us. I think we’ll get back up in the top-10 where we belong this weekend. ”
McGilton remains in 2nd place in the race for ARCA Rookie of the Year behind Michael McDowell. McGilton is currently in the 5th position in the 2007 ARCA RE/MAX Series Championship race with 3570 points, only 5 points behind 4th place Justin Allgaier.
ARCA RE/MAX Series practice runs from 2:00 p. m. to 4:00 p. m. on Friday, September 7, 2007. SIM Factory Pole Qualifying begins that evening at 6:00 p. m. ARCA RE/MAX Series Driver Introduction begins Saturday, September 8, at 1:30 p. m. and the Chicagoland ARCA 200 green flag drops at 2:00 p. m. and will be broadcast LIVE on SPEED.
