Stock Car: McGilton Comes Home; Carries Momentum into Busy Holiday Weekend Brewco Motorsports

This is going to be a very busy weekend for ARCA RE/MAX Series driver Phillip McGilton with two races and an appearance spanning just four days. Fresh off his career-best finish of 3rd place at the Milwaukee Mile, McGilton is geared up for a weekend of under-the-lights racing, dirt-track racing, and meeting with fans at the DuQuoin State Fair.

The Marion, Illinois resident travels from his nearby home to compete in tonight’s Gateway ARCA 150 at Gateway International Raceway. Earlier this month, McGilton and his Brewco Motorsports teammates participated in the open test at Gateway. McGilton was very pleased with the test session and is excited to return with the ARCA RE/MAX Series for tonight’s 150 miles under the lights.

“We had a great test here a few weeks ago, ” said McGilton. “I’m really excited to be back for this race. I think we really have something for this race at Gateway and we’re carrying some great momentum from last week’s 3rd place finish. ”

ARCA RE/MAX Series practice runs today from 11:30 a. m. to 1:30 p. m. today. SIM Factory Pole Qualifying begins this afternoon at 5:30 p. m. ARCA RE/MAX Series Driver Introductions begin at 8:45 p. m. and the green flag drops for the Gateway ARCA 150 tonight, Friday, August 31, 2007 at 9:00 p. m. and will be broadcast LIVE on SPEED. All times listed are EASTERN.

Following the weekend’s first race, McGilton will pack up Saturday morning and move on to the DuQuoin State Fairgrounds where he will make an appearance at the Illinois Secretary of State and DuQuoin State Fair’s 1st Heartland Classic Cruise-In. The event is sponsored by Peoples National Bank in conjunction with McGilton’s ARCA RE/MAX Series car sponsor, SI Performance. The car show runs from 8:00 a. m. until approximately 3:30 p. m. at the DuQuoin State Fairgrounds. Participating in the autograph session from 2:00 p. m. to 3:00 p. m. will be the driver of the No. 47 SI Performance Ford Fusion, Phillip McGilton, along with some of his fellow ARCA RE/MAX Series competitors. Throughout the day, the No. 47 SI Performance Ford will be on display with a collection of other SI Performance vehicles. All times listed are LOCAL.

“I’m really looking forward to meeting with fans, especially this close to home! This is an important event for us, ” stated McGilton. “SI Performance is involved with this show and will have vehicles on display. We’ll also have one of the No. 47 SI Performance Ford Fusion race cars on display so the fans can take a look at what I get to drive up close and personal. A few of my buddies from the ARCA RE/MAX Series have also been nice enough to give their time on Saturday to meet with fans and sign autographs. I really appreciate their participation in this event. I want to thank everyone in advance for coming out and supporting the DuQuoin State Fair, SI Performance, and all of us drivers in the ARCA RE/MAX Series. ”

McGilton and the Brewco Motorsports team will take to the dirt one last time this season at the DuQuoin State Fairgrounds on Monday, September 3rd for the Southern Illinois 100. McGilton scored a 10th place finish in his dirt track debut just two weeks ago at the Illinois State Fairgrounds in Springfield, Illinois. Confident with the experience that both the team and driver of the No. 47 SI Performance Ford gained while there, McGilton and his Brewco Motorsports teammates are looking forward to one last turn around the dirt.

“It was definitely a new experience at Springfield, ” stated McGilton “and I was really proud of us for getting that top-10. Now that I know what it feels like a little better on dirt, I think we can get out here at DuQuoin and be even more competitive this weekend. ”
