When Dan Bowden spoke about his family’s $24 million car collection, he sounded like a cross between a proud father and a kid in a chocolate shop.
“We own the majority of our nation’s greatest motor sport cars, you could say it’s the pinnacle of motor racing in Australia,” Dan said.
“That doesn’t exist anywhere in the world. To have all the greatest cars in a nation’s racing history is not a normal thing.”
Dan’s dad, David, started the collection back in the 1980s, after he met racing car driver Ian “Pete” Geoghan in the 1960s.
“He had a huge amount of respect for Pete and the cars, he was amazed by the level of development that went into them.”
The first car David acquired for the collection was one of Ian Geoghan’s old racing cars, a GTHO Super Falcon.
The family now owns about 80 historical cars, which they store in a shed in Buderim.
