Robbie Scott: “Our hats off to winner Chris Meadows and team for their win”

West Virginia dirt Late Model driver Robbie Scott, 30, of Shinnston, WV stayed in his home state of West Virginia this past weekend to race at the Beckley Motor Speedway. Scott competed in his Rocket Chassis/Mopars by Stanton #18 sponsored by Amos Paving, Atlas Autobody Parts LLC., Patricia Feltz, Walt’s Inc., Advance Auto Parts of Shinnston, WV, Hoosier Tire, Rocket Chassis and Scott Sign and Design.

“This past weekend we traveled to Beckley Motor Speedway in Beckley, WV for the ‘Let Freedom Ring 40’, ” stated Scott. “The night got off to a late start because the track was soaked with water and the track had no packing vehicles to speak of. Track conditions were terrible but we decided to stick it out. After a poor qualifying effort we started third in the third heat which is exactly where we finished. ”

“This relegated us to a ninth starting position in the feature where we powered our way to the front where we finished third. It turned out to be an OK night. Since running there off and on since the grand reopening in 2003 we have not finished worse than third when still running at the end. This is something we are extremely proud of considering the level of competition at this track, They have a great bunch of racers. Our hats off to winner Chris Meadows and team for their win! They are a great family and his dad Joe was one of the best drivers to come out of our state. ”

“Our plan was to travel to Pittsburgh on Saturday for the annual Pittsburgher but those plans changed after Friday night. The car we ran on Friday was the same car we were to run on Saturday. I did not have enough manpower to get everything properly race ready for Saturday. We also had some problems with the trailer on Friday night we could not get repaired in time. ”

“I would like to thank my Dad, Rocky and Dustin for their hard work. I really wish we could have ran at Pittsburgh though, I really enjoy running there. I don’t finish all that well but I do enjoy racing there (laughs)! As for this weekend our plans are up in the air, we will take a look at things this week and make a decision. ”
