The Suncoast Motorsports #93 team with Rookie contender, Rob Partelo, is anxiously looking forward to the ASA Late Model Series Southern Division’s next race at South Georgia (GA) Motorsports Park on Saturday June 2, 2007 in Cecil, Georgia for the South Georgia 125 after a disappointing race May 5, 2007 at the Watermelon Capital (GA) Speedway, Cordele, Georgia, in the Watermelon Bowl 125.
In his first ASALMS race, the ASALMS Southern Division’s opener for 2007, the Camp Boggy Creek 100 at Bronson Speedway on March 17, 2007, Partelo qualified ninth, started on the pole, and led all 100 laps of the race to join the short list of drivers who have won their first ASALMS race in their first start.
After a good test session at Cordele and Cecil, the team returned to Cordele May 4, 2007 with high hopes. All too quickly, it became apparent the #93 was not handling as it did during testing.
“During the three hour practice Friday and the two hour session on Saturday, we changed everything we possibly could, but nothing helped. Our goal was to come out with a good, strong finish and maintain the points’ lead we had from Bronson, ” said Partelo.
