Racing incoming foul weather and fellow competitors Russell Syverson and KC Garber dashed to the front of the pack to claim victories during Wednesday Night Fever at Stateline Speedway.
With inclement weather forecasted for later in the evening, officials changed the line-up of races for the dashes shortening them to one dash per division.
Russell Syverson, leading the point standings, set his sixth consecutive fast time holding off heat winner Chuck Davidson to claim the 15-lap main event for the Road Runners. The win was Syverson’s second main event win of the season. Derek Colarusso finished third. After leading a portion of the opening laps Heath Denson finished fourth followed by Steve Mathers.
In the Road Runner B Main, Brycen Tarr distanced himself from challenges Tom Knapp and Bernie Beard to with the 15-lap event. Knapp held off Beard thru lap traffic to pick up second. Beard finished third with heat winner Robb Boatsmann and Robert Benn rounding out the top five.
Dave Hatton won the single dash. Tim Benn won the B Heat.
2006 Fever 4 Champion KC Garber darted to the front of Fever 4 main event and held off top qualifier Matt Hatton for the win in the 25-lap event. Hatton reeled Garber in with five laps to go, looking for the pass on the outside.
On the last lap Hatton looked to have the advantage on the backstretch coming to the checkers but driving out of turn four, Garber held enough momentum to inch out the victory.
Back behind the wheel Mel Auckerman finished third, dash winner Tom Plybon fourth. Andrew McKee rounded out the top five. Road Runner champion Craig O’Neal and Terry Auckerman won the dashes.
In the Bump to Pass division Darryl Carillio swerved and bumper banged his “Crazy Taxi” to the front of the main event to take the win. Heat winner Vern Dorsey finished second followed by dash winner James Cotter.
Saturday the ASA AERO Exhaust Northwest Tour returns to Stateline Speedway after a 20-year absence from the Inland Northwest. The series, features, a mix of past Northwest racing champions, up and coming young drivers and determined locals.
The series has a deep root in Northwest racing history dating back to its formation in the early 1980’s.
Events for the Access Road Solutions 150 will start at 6pm. The ICAR Series and Early Stocks are also on the schedule. Adult admission is $20.
The wild, wacky, unpredictable action of Wednesday Night Fever continues every Wednesday at 6pm with the cars and superstars of the Road Runners, Fever 4’s, plus the wild and crazy Bump to Pass division. Adults are just $5.75; kids under the age of nine accompanied by adults are free
