The ASA Late Model Series Challenge Division Championship and Pat Bourdow Memorial Rookie of the Year Award will be determined Saturday September 29th at Five Flags Speedway in Pensacola, Florida.
Sean Murphy, a contender for both, will pilot the no. 32 ASI LIMITED; Akzo Nobel; Spectrum Metal Finishing; Aluminum Shapes Chevrolet Late Model for the final Challenge Division event. Murphy currently leads the Pat Bourdow Memorial Rookie of the Year title by 22-points and sits 5th in the overall Championship points (-137 points behind the leader).
Murphy needs to finish within 4-positions of 2nd place contender Derek Thorn in order to capture the rookie award. Overall point’s leader Travis Dassow needs only to finish 21st or better to take the 2007 Championship.
It will be a tough task for Murphy to take the championship, but his 2007 record proves he’s a worthy contender. Murphy has finished half of the challenge division races in the top five. His best finish was 2nd at the Milwaukee Mile and his worst was 22nd at Music City Motorplex in Nashville, Tenn.
