Stock Car Saturday Night returns to the Susquehanna Speedway Park on September 8, with the final round of the Clean Technologies Young Guns Shootout along with the Late Models, Street Stocks, Xtreme Stock Cars, Four Cylinder Stock Cars and a special Women on Wheels School Bus race.
The final round of six Young Guns Street Stock 5-lap dash races presented by Clean Technologies will also take place on Saturday night. The dash features all drivers ages 21 and younger in the Street Stock division. Last month, Chad Smith won his second Shootout dash to take the lead in the series point battle by four points over Joey Hoffer (30) and by five points over Eric Walker (29). Smith has 34 points. Jenn Scott (12), Dave Thomspon Jr. (10), Calvin Herman (8), Garrett Shover (4) and Jimmy Slaseman (3) have also accumulated points in the 6-race series. The champion of the six race series will collect $100.00 with $50.00 going to second and $25.00 to third and fourth place. Trophies will be presented to all 8 drivers compliments of Burkens Auto Salvage in Red Lion.
The final point race of the 2007 Xtreme Stock Cars point championship sponsored jointly by Superior Homes (Lancaster, PA), Erb’s Custom Performance (Wellsville, PA) and The Madison Recovery Homes (York, PA) will be on Saturday Night as well. Michael Goodwin (1,762 points) of Wellsville has unofficially clinched the championship as he holds a 104 point advantage over a tight second place battle between Ray Broderick (1,658) and Sam Rial (1,656). The top 10 positions will receive points fund monies at the year ending banquet this winter. The XSC champion, Michael Goodwin will receive $300.00.
The point championships for both the Late Models and Street Stocks presented by Hoosier Racing Tires will be determined on Saturday night, September 15 with their final point races on that night.
