Terry English of Benton, KY sits atop the 2007 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Points Standings after the 31st Annual East Bay Winternationals which were recently held at East Bay Raceway Park in Tampa, FL. It marked the third straight year the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series sanctioned the East Bay Winternationals as the final three nights of competition determined the series points positioning for the beginning of the 2007 season in which 37 events in 15 states are scheduled.

Due to the unique multi-night format at East Bay each year, this year prior to the 31st Annual East Bay Winternationals, Lucas Oil officials announced a new way to calculate points towards the 2007 National Championship. Points would be given on the final 3 nights of competition as in year’s past, however this year each drivers points accumulations would be combined for a “grand total” and that “grand total” will count as a single race. This “grand total” determines the Official Points Standings and will set the stage for the next Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series event on Saturday, March 31st at the Brownstown (IN) Speedway for the 10th Annual “Indiana Icebreaker” which will pay $10,000 to win. Two-time and defending Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series National Champion, Earl Pearson, Jr. of Jacksonville, FL is the defending race winner.

Dan Schlieper of Sullivan, WI the 2007 DART Machinery East Bay Winternationals Points Champion will be second when the season Championship battle heads to Brownstown. Don O’Neal of Martinsville, IN the two-time Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Championship Runner-up in points will be third with Tim McCreadie of Watertown, NY and Jimmy Mars of Menomonie, WI rounding out the top five.

The rest of the top ten coming into the “Indiana Icebreaker” will be Matt Miller of Waterville, OH, Scott Bloomquist of Mooresburg, TN, Billy Moyer of Batesville, AR, Terry Casey of New London, WI and Donnie Moran of Dresden, OH.

In 2006 the Late Model Dirt Series sanctioned 33 events and had 17 different winners. In ‘07 after East Bay there have been six different winners in six events with Rick Aukland of Zanesville, OH, Earl Pearson, Jr., Tim Dohm of Cross Lanes, WV, Shannon Babb of Moweaqua, IL, Steve Shaver of Vienna, WV and Scott Bloomquist all scoring victories at East Bay.
