Two-time NASCAR Winston Cup Series Champion “Texas” Terry Labonte may have retired from the NEXTEL Cup Circuit, but his popularity with Texas race fans is as stout as ever. The Corpus Christi native, best known for his colorful #5 Kellogg Frosted Flakes “Tony The Tiger” Chevrolet made an appearance before a packed grandstand at the Full Throttle Production s “Allstate Texas Thunder and Lightning Racefest” event at Thunder Hill Raceway this past weekend.
Labonte, on hand to serve as the Grand Marshal and Official Starter for the 150 Lap Grand National West Division season opener also had the added bonus of watching his son Justin compete in the event. But what most fans really came for besides the event itself was the chance to go for the “Ride of a Lifetime” in a real Cup car with “Texas” Terry behind the wheel.
