The cars and stars of the Georgia Asphalt Series headline the season opener this Saturday April 28th at New Senoia Speedway. Approximately 30 drivers from across the Southeast are expected to enter the first GAS event since 2005 at the historic 3/8 mile paved oval, located four miles West of Senoia on Georgia Highway 16.
Local favorites in the series include Bubba Pollard, who was the Senoia Speedway 2002 Late Model track Champion and finished second in the 2006 Georgia Asphalt Series. Another local favorite, Ronnie Sanders from Fayetteville who finished third in the 2006 GAS point standings is also entered. Local driver Roger Delp from Newnan should also add local interest to the event while racing in the Iceman division. Bubba Pollard’s father and local favorite Sonny Pollard is also an expected at the track, which was built by his Father and Bubba Pollard’s Grandfather, Hence Pollard.
Russell Fleeman (Birmingham Raceway and Five Flags Speedway), Korey Ruble (Watermelon Capital Speedway) and Taylor Satterfield (South Alabama Speedway) and Paul Kelley (Lanier National Raceway) have already added their names to the win list so far this year.
