The 2007 ASA Late Model Series Challenge Division Presented by GM Performance Parts is Travis Dassow! The West Bend, Wisconsin driver, officially clinched the 2007 title after taking the green flag and starting the 2007 ASALMS Challenge Division Season Championships / USA Digital 200 at the Five Flags (FL) Speedway in Pensacola, Florida on September 29, 2007.
This is the first Championship under the current T. D. Racing Development Team and Third straight ASALMS Challenge Division title for the former WalTom Racing Team. In addition, this is also the third straight championships for Crew Chief, Howie Lettow who took current NASCAR Busch Series drivers, Stephen Leicht (2005) and Kelly Bires (2006) to their respective ASALMS Challenge Division Championships.
“What a relief, I’m so happy this is over, now we can go celebrate! ” An elated Dassow said in victory lane after the USA Digital 200, which was won by fellow Wisconsin driver, Charlie Menard. “I can’t thank my crew enough, this is a championship team and they know how to get the job done and they proved that the last two years with Kelly (Bires) and Stephen (Leicht)! “
Dassow merely had to take the green flag in the 2007 ASALMS Challenge Division Season Championships / USA Digital 200 was at the Five Flags (FL) Speedway in Pensacola, Florida. Going into the 11th race of the Fifth Anniversary 2007 season, Dassow carried a nearly insurmountable 93 Point Lead over Colt James and 97 markers ahead of Eddie Hoffman, the only other two drivers still with a mathematical shot at the title.
In order for James or Hoffman to have a chance at Dassow, they both needed to Qualify in the Top Five and for Dassow to Qualify Sixth or worse. Dassow thwarted there efforts by timing in Third Quickest in ARP Bodies/Aluminum Racing Products Qualifying in Pensacola, Florida and simply needed to take the green in the 200-lap Feature to officially ice the title!
