Late Model:Trevor ‘Hulkster’ Phillips Trevracing

Ohio-based dirt Late Model young gun Trevor ‘Hulkster’ Phillips will have a busy weekend between racing and graduating high school. A part of Team GLR with fellow veteran driver George ‘The General’ Lee, Phillips competes in his Maibach Ford of Orrville, OH, Valvoline Oil, Bishop Collision & Repair Center, American Payroll Advance, Cowen Truck Lines, Hague Crystal Clear Water, Mason Racin’, Bert Transmission, Hoosier Racing Tire and Reliable Mold sponsored Rocket Chassis/Malcuit Racing Engines Ford Fusion #6.

“This coming weekend I am racing at Hilltop Speedway on Friday and I have graduation on Saturday at 7:30 PM so I wont be able to race that night, ” explained Phillips. “I wish they would have made it at 7:30 AM so I could still race but I guess that’s not going to happen. ”

Phillips, a top wrestling star, will graduate from Waynedale High School in Apple Creek, OH.

Last weekend Phillips scored two top ten finishes during this past weekend. “This past weekend was by far the best weekend we have had, ” commented Phillips. “It was also a good weekend for team GLR with George finishing first and fourth and myself finishing sixth at Hilltop and third at Lakeville. ”

“The car was really good at Hilltop. We qualified 10th and finished second in the heat. We made some minor changes on the car to make it slightly better. We started 10th in the feature and finished sixth, so it ended up being a pretty good night. But that is what is going to make me a better driver. ”

“This is only my third time running at Lakeville and only my second time running in the steel block class. Overall it was the best night we have had so far. We started fourth in the heat and ran fourth. Then we started 8th in the Monitor Bank Triple Crown Series for the Late Models feature, which was alright because we had 40 laps to get up there. The track was on the high side so it was hard to pass. It took awhile to get around the cars in front of me, so that took some of the best driving that I have done. It was nice to get third. ”

The General won’t be in any dirt track action this Friday night but will be back in the saddle Saturday night. “Our plan’s for the weekend is going to be busy, ” said Lee. “Friday night I will be at Mansfield Raceway for the qualifying of the Craftsman Truck Series trying to get the Cowen Truckline #42 truck in the show. With qualifying starting at 6:00 PM it kind of rules out Hilltop. Saturday the Truck race starts at 1:00 PM so we are planning on being loaded up and ready to go to Muskingum for the IRS race Saturday. Then Sunday we are planning on running Eldora for the Sunoco ALMS race. ”

This coming weekend Lee will be racing his Maibach Ford of Orrville, OH, Valvoline Oil, Bishop Collision & Repair Center, American Payroll Advance, Cowen Truck Lines, Hague Crystal Clear Water, Mason Racin’, Bert Transmission, Hoosier Racing Tire and Reliable Mold sponsored Rocket Chassis/Malcuit Racing Engines Ford Fusion #21.

Lee & Phillips will be spotlighted in a feature article in an upcoming edition of Dirt Late Model magazine.

Team GLR’s top-notch crew will return for the 2007 season including Jeff (Root) Long, Dave Hazelet, Kerrissa Darr, Aaron Hullett, Mark & Ed Hagen, Jerry Phillips and Sherri Lee.
