Victor Pfluger Headed For Tucson Raceway Park For The 17th Annual Bud Shoot Out.

Just one week after being crowned the youngest ASA Speed Truck Champion in history. Victor Pfluger and his Parker Farms Lahorgue Racecars Pontiac headed for Tucson Raceway Park for the 17th annual Bud Shoot Out. After a stout Qualifying run Victor and his team headed up by crew chief Chuck Lahorgue were on top of the field with fast time of 15:875 out running the rest of the field by over a tenth of a second.

After the Ultimate Dash for Cash Victor would be starting in the fifth starting position for the 100 lap main event. The goal for the night was to survive the first 80 laps and race the last 20. It was Victor’s first time at the Tucson facility in a Late Model and he needed to drive smart to make a good showing at the end.

On lap 4 Victor made a clean pass on the 96 car to take the 4th position. This turned out to be fortunate as the 96 car on the next lap spun out and collected almost half the field. All night Victor was in tow behind the leaders running third riding around waiting for the frontrunners to make a mistake. Victor closed the gap within a car’s length but a late race red flag came for the night’s second oil down with only 25 laps to go. The oil down was right in the groove where Pfluger’s car was working its best. The last 25 laps Pfluger was just hanging on to the car hoping not to put it in the fence. He dropped a few spots in the closing laps but clung to a sixth place finish.

The competitive but easy-going young man from Morristown, AZ was in good spirits after the race knowing that it could have been much worse. “I was fortunate not to put the car in the fence the last 25 laps, the track was really slick and everyone was moving all over the place to get grip, but there wasn’t any out there. We will to head back to the shop and get ready for the Las Vegas Open Comp show in two weeks. I’m glad we could load this Parker Farms Lahorgue Racecar in the trailer tonight with no damage. I know some people tonight were not as fortunate. Loading a racecar with no damage is less work for my Dad and I to prep the car for Vegas. I would like to say thanks to Jason Gamble, Scott Reents at the Holiday Inn Express Tucson Airport this weekend for all the hospitality they and their entire staff gave us the whole weekend. Those guys are awesome. Thanks to Parker Farms, Copperstate Tire, Maxima Racing Oil, Alpinestars, Pimp Hammer Clothing, and AZ Pro Signs for all the help this weekend and their continued support. We could not do this without them. We had some local fans show up tonight to cheer us on. I hope Rachael, Vicki, Mike, Tina, Scott, and Jason all had a good time. We sure did. Thanks to Dan Ruth and his staff for having us this weekend. Thanks to Matt Wolfe for coordinating our efforts with our fans and sponsors. We are off to Vegas!
