NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Rookie of the Year contender Brandon Whitt will attempt to make his second ARCA race this weekend at Daytona International Speedway (DIS). The No. 51 Brandon Whitt Racing (BWR) Toyota Camry will be among 70 competitors attempting to make the 41-car field for Saturday afternoon’s ARCA 200.
Whitt, who will be attempting his first ever ARCA and Cup races at DIS, has two career NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series starts at the high banks of Daytona.
“I’m excited about the upcoming ARCA race. I haven’t had a lot of time drafting on the Super Speedways so this will give me an opportunity to gain some more experience, †explained Whitt. “The goal is to be competitive and to learn as much as possible to take over to the Cup program; give us a little bit more of that competitive edge. â€
In addition to the much anticipated Daytona races, Whitt is also thrilled to be a part of history.
“BWR will run a Toyota Camry in the ARCA race. It’s exciting to know I will be a part of Toyota’s first stock car competition race at Daytona. We’re making history here, †Whitt remarked.
