New Mitsubishi Evolution To Make Tarmac Debut In Aeromil Pacific Classic Adelaide

MITSUBISHI’S all-new performance flagship, the Lancer Evolution, will make its Australian tarmac debut in the Aeromil Pacific Classic Adelaide rally next week.

A pair of the turbocharged all-wheel-drive sedans will run at the front of a field of 250 cars in the five-day rally, which starts in Adelaide on Wednesday.

It will be the first time the Exo X, as it is called by enthusiasts, has been seen on public roads since its world launch at the recent Australian International Motor Show in Sydney.

The all-wheel drive, turbo-powered car is high on the wish list of serious rally drivers and its appearance will provide spectators with a mouth-watering preview to its on-sale launch early next year.

The model’s role in the Aeromil Pacific Classic Adelaide celebrates Mitsubishi Motors Australia Limited’s iong involvement as official vehicle supplier to the event.

The Chairman of rally organiser Silverstone Events, David Edwards, welcomed the news of the Evolution’s debut.

“The Lancer Evolution is an iconic model and enthusiasts around Australia have been dying to see the all-new version X, so it’s a wonderful coup to have its debut in the Aeromil Pacific Classic Adelaide rally, ” Mr Edwards said.

“As an Adelaide-based company, Mitsubishi Australia has been a generous supporter of the rally and we are enormously appreciative.

“The rally will provide an excellent showcase for a model that is destined to enhance Mitsubishi’s reputation in the enthusiast and motorsport world even more. ”

The two cars, in standard road trim and driven by Mitsubishi representatives, will run ahead of the official “Zero” course car and the rally field throughout Wednesday’s Commuserve Prologue on the Adelaide Grand Prix street circuit and the following four days of special stages in the Adelaide region.

The strikingly-styled Lancer Evolution showcases new performance and handling technology, including an all-new 2.0-litre turbocharged and intercooled engine and the Super-All Wheel Control (S-AWC) dynamic handling system.

Two new transmissions will be offered - a five-speed manual transmission and the highly-anticipated six-speed Twin-Clutch Sportronic Shift Transmission (TC-SST), a new-generation automated manual transmission.

Standard appointments on the entry-level Lancer Evolution include the new 206 kW engine, five-speed manual transmission, SAWC, Brembo brakes, Recaro front seats, 18-inch wheels and a range of safety features including seven airbags. The TC-SST transmission is optional.

The MR model adds standard TC-SST transmission, Bilstein shock absorbers and Eibach springs, two-piece brake rotors for better heat dissipation, BBS forged-alloy wheels and other interior features.

The 2007 Classic Adelaide welcomes the addition of naming rights sponsor Aeromil Pacific, a highly-successful specialist aviation company.

Aeromil Pacific is the exclusive Cessna Authorised Sales Representative for the best-selling Citation family of corporate jets and Caravan turboprop utility aircraft, and a Cessna Sales Team Authorised Representative for the new generation of piston Single Engine aircraft.
