To borrow Leona Helmsley’s infamous line about not paying taxes, going green is just for the little people. Though most automakers and suppliers plying their wares at this show did their best to be seen to be green, there were plenty of horsepower-laden supercars for those with the means.

Sure, the leading automakers talked nobly about sustainability and CO2 reduction and new, super compact cars popped up everywhere. The emphasis was on ultra-efficient clean diesels from most large European automakers, while General Motors put Toyota in the shade with its potentially zero-emissions, plug-in diesel/electric Opel Flextreme concept.
