Rally driving? You’re never too old says 70-year-old
FIFTY years ago, Trevor Williams powered to victory in North Wales’ toughest motoring test – the Cambrian Rally.
Now aged 70, the sprightly pensioner is hoping to repeat his success in this year’s event.
Trevor, of Central Avenue, Prestatyn, will once again don his overalls and helmet to co-drive with John Leckie from Rhyl in a Subaru Impreza through some of the toughest forest stages in North Wales.
They will be up against 133 top competitors from the UK and Ireland, but Trevor is undaunted by the prospect of hurtling along forest tracks at speeds of over 100mph.
He said: “When I last competed in the Cambrian Rally, more than 40 years ago now, the event was completely on public roads with special timed stages.
