Nissan Motor Co. said Thursday it has received 2,282 orders for the GT-R in less than 2 months after the automaker started accepting preorders on Sept. 26.
There are over 11 times more preorders than the monthly sales target of 200 units, Nissan said.
Enthusiasts rushed to place orders as they wait for the relaunch of Nissan’s top-performing sports car, production of which was halted five years ago, analysts said.
Due to the car’s high sticker price, ranging from 7,770,000 yen to 8,347,500 yen, 40 pct of the preorders were placed by people in their 50s or over and 31.4 pct by those in their 40s, Nissan said.
