With temperatures near triple digits and high humidity, one of the last things you want to do is drive concept cars. No air conditioning or working windows guarantee a sweat-box experience. But in this particular case, Ford offered a chance to drive the Interceptor and Lincoln MKR concepts from this past January’s Detroit auto show at its Dearborn test track. We couldn’t turn that down.
First was the Interceptor (“Arrested Development,” AW, Jan. 29). In daylight, the concept looks meaner than it did revolving on the show stand and appears to fulfill the “American Muscle” vision of Freeman Thomas, Ford director of strategic design. “It’s an original recipe created in America,” Thomas said.
