Dick said the couple attends car shows for camaraderie between friends and to “give others enjoyment of the car that we enjoy so much.”
Pat said the car show also gives her “a weekend away and a weekend off.”
Debra and Allan Erdmann, of Park Forest, attended as spectators. They usually attend races at the Chicagoland Speedway and said they were intrigued by the first Goodguys car show there. On Sunday afternoon, they were walking amongst the shiny relics and reminiscing about the past.
Allan liked the Chevy Nova that was just like the one his parents used to own.
“I remember just being a little kid going to the drive in and riding around,” he said.
Debra was taking pictures of old-model Ford Mustangs to show her daughter, who just bought a late model version.
Debra said she liked the car show because of the “smell, the excitement and the power.”
Frank Hathcock, of Channahon, was showing off the 1961 Chevy Impala wagon he has been restoring since 1999.
