Along with the move to the new distribution center on the illustrious Nanjing Road in Shanghai, Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart, is now also making changes at the head of one of its most important growth markets. Helmut Bröker, 50, is replacing Mark Bishop, 53, as Managing Director of Porsche China.

Bröker, who joins Porsche from BMW AG, has more than 20 years of international experience in the automotive industry to bring to his new role, including time spent working in the USA, Asia, Australia, Africa, and the Caribbean. Porsche will continue its expansion in China under the direction of this erudite economist.

In fiscal 2006/2007 (July 31, 2007), Porsche sold 3105 vehicles in China, almost doubling its sales figures over the previous year. A total of 2510 Cayennes were delivered to Chinese customers. Moreover, the sustained success of the sports car, sales of which rose 96 percent to 595 units, is particularly remarkable given the country’s lack of motor sporting history.

While headed up by Mark Bishop, who relocated from Porsche Middle East to China at the beginning of 2005, the dealer network in China has grown from five to the present total of 18 locations. Three further Porsche Centers are currently in the pipeline. Bishop is expected to take up a new position at Jebsen & Co., the long-standing partner of Porsche during the development of the Chinese market.
