It’s been half a century since Larry Barrick started working on a one-of-a-kind hot rod in a tiny farming community in central Montana and it’s been nearly 25 years since Barrick died. Thanks to some caring and car-savvy friends, Barrick’s prized hot rod is back in action and better than ever.
Barrick completed his test car in 1958, and although it has a similar look to sports cars of the day, it’s the product of the mind of a young man from Moccasin.
“He built the mold which was made out of wood and chicken wire,” close friend Wayne Pallett said. “He didn’t have any pattern other than a picture in a magazine. He built it in a shed on a ranch on the farm in Moccasin. It’s a little bit Austin-Healey maybe and a little bit of Corvette and a little bit of whatever else was in 1958.”
