The Infiniti M, which went on sale as an all-new 2006 model in 2005, restored the gap between the G35 and Q45. The current rendition, unlike its predecessor, has all the essential elements of a luxury performance sedan.
I like how the Infiniti M captures essential elements of both the Q45 luxury performance sedan and the ever-popular G35. Built off an enhanced version of the FM (Front Mid-ship) platform currently used on the G35 and FX crossover SUV, the M looks a bit like a full-sized version of the G35. While the all-new M is not quite a Q it bears a striking resemblance to Infiniti’s popular flagship.
The M’s physique is sporty thanks to a wide, low stance, short overhangs, and an aggressive hoodline. Around back, I especially like the L-shaped LED taillights and quad tailpipes.
The Infiniti M is also a showcase for the latest in Infiniti safety technology, including an available Lane Departure Warning (LDW) system. The system recognizes lane markings and calculates the lateral distance between the vehicle and the lane marking, along with vehicle speed relative to the marking, and generates an audible signal to warn the driver of a pending, unintended lane departure. Engagement of the turn signal turns off the system, which also features a cancel switch.
