Porsche Listens To Irate Customers, Lowers Prices

Like many clients of the luxury brand, Vinton, who has owned more than half-a-dozen Porsches in the past two decades, has a keen understanding of the bottom line.
With the Canadian dollar at just about par, the apartment developer doesn’t need a calculator to figure out that his favourite automobile is far more expensive to purchase in Canada than in the United States.
His current ride, a $170,000 Porsche Turbo, is more than $43,000 cheaper in the United States based on 2007 pricing and exchange rates – enough of a difference to buy a starter Mercedes or BMW as a winter beater.
“It just doesn’t make sense to have that kind of discrepancy, “ Vinton says. “They figure that you have money so you’ll pay. But that’s an arrogant attitude. There is only so much you can take before you start to walk. “
Yesterday, Porsche Cars North America announced it was listening to its irate customers. The company announced it would lower prices by more than 10 per cent on its 2008 models, compared to prices and standard equipment of 2007 models.
