Subaru Aims at Mainstream as it Redesigns Impreza Sedan

To achieve this goal, the company has redesigned its bread-and-butter Impreza sedan, abandoning its somewhat quirky look for a design that will be more appealing to a broader, more conservative group of consumers.
Apparently the move is working—since the new Impreza hit the streets a few months ago, Subaru sales are climbing off the charts, setting records month after month.
However, the loyal band of purists forming the core of Subaru’s customer base has been watching the change with concern because the crown jewel of the brand’s lineup, the potent WRX STI, is based on the Impreza. They’ve been worried that the tampering of the design might also result in a toned-down version of the brand’s performance flagship.
