South Florida businesses and schools are invited to join thousands of companies nationwide as they raise money for the NASCAR Foundation on the fourth annual NASCAR Day to be held May 18.

As part of NASCAR Day, organizations sell special lapel pins for $5 each with all proceeds going to the NASCAR Foundation and its wide range of initiatives, including children’s causes, animal welfare and rescue, nature conservancy, bone marrow and blood donation, and more. Homestead Hospital’s race-themed pediatric unit, Speediatrics, also benefits from the NASCAR Foundation and will receive a portion of the nationwide earnings from NASCAR Day pin sales.

National companies including Anheuser Busch, Bank of America, FedEx, Papa John’s, Liberty Mutual Insurance, The Home Depot, and TOYS R US have already signed up to participate in NASCAR Day 2007. Local participants include Homestead-Miami Speedway, the City of West Palm Beach, the City of Homestead, Homestead Hospital, Community Bank of Florida, TR Jones & Company, Parkland Golf and Country Club, and First National Bank of South Florida. Each of these organizations has purchased lapel pins which employees will wear on May 18 along with their favorite NASCAR gear. The State of Florida has even proclaimed May 18 NASCAR Day for all residents.

“The NASCAR Foundation and Speediatrics are such worthwhile programs and we are happy to be able to support them through NASCAR Day each year, ” said Homestead-Miami Speedway President Curtis Gray. “Many local and national organizations are already on board to take part in NASCAR Day 2007, and Homestead-Miami Speedway is proud to be in such great company. ”

Representatives can join the celebration and get their companies and schools involved in this worthwhile program by signing up to be a NASCAR Day Crew Chief. Crew Chiefs will receive a participation kit with tools to help their organization celebrate NASCAR Day, including NASCAR Day pins, a Crew Chief Manual, a collection envelope, and a donation envelope. The kit also contains NASCAR Day posters featuring 2007 NASCAR Day Spokesperson Kelly Clarkson to put up in high traffic areas to encourage participation.
