The 2002 World of Outlaws season saw Steve Kinser claim his 17th series title, on the strength of 25 A-Feature wins. Among the wins for the native of Bloomington, Indiana was his 12th triumph in the Knoxville Nationals, as well as his 10th victory in the Gold Cup Race of Champions. In the 67 events contested, he earned 59 Top-10 finishes.
Danny Lasoski finished second in points after earning his first series title the year before. During the 2002 season, the native of Dover, Missouri won 13 A-Feature events, and was quickest in time trials, 13 times. Both Kinser and Lasoski competed in the International Race of Champion (IROC) during the 2002 season, with Lasoski winning at Texas Motor Speedway.
Craig Dollansky finished third in points on the strength of two A-Feature wins and 57 Top-10 finishes.
Joey Saldana, finished fourth in points, winning five A-Feature events along the way, including his first career triumph in the prestigious Kings Royal at Eldora Speedway. He also led the series by setting fast time in 21 events over the course of the season.
Tim Shaffer the 1999 World of Outlaws Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year was a career-best fifth in points with one win and 51 Top-10 finishes.
Mark Kinser, a two-time World of Outlaws Champion, won three times and was sixth in points.
Donny Schatz won two A-Features, as well as the Historical Big One at Eldora, which paid $100,000-to win. The 1997 Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year was seventh in points with 42 Top-10 finishes.
Brad Furr was eighth in points and won three events, followed by veteran Stevie Smith who had two wins.
Randy Hannagan, the 1995 World of Outlaws Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year rounded out the Top-10 in points.
Daryn Pittman won six A-Feature events including his first career triumph with the series at Perris Auto Speedway in California early in the season. He also won the Harvest Classic at Calistoga Speedway in the Golden State late in the season.
Other drivers that visited Victory Lane with the World of Outlaws in 2002 included: Jac Haudenschild, P.J. Chesson and Sammy Swindell.
