After a wet weekend washed out this past weekend’s American Sprint Car Series Canyon Region’s scheduled 50-lapper, the series returns to Manzanita Speedway in Phoenix, AZ, with it’s first event of the season atop the ½-mile clay oval.
The series opened the 2007 season in top form with Jeremy Sherman topping a field of 29 entries on the 1/3-mile oval on March 10. Saturday’s go on the ½-mile marks the first of three consecutive events on the big track for the ASCS Canyon Region with April 14 and April 28 events to follow.
Piloting Fred Bryan’s No. 77 Maxim, Sherman holds the early advantage in the series championship points race over past fellow champions Charles Davis, Jr., Josh Pelkey and Bob Ream, Jr.
