And when the engines come to life Saturday night, it will be Manitou Beach, MI, racer Ken Mackey who reigns as defending series champion after outlasting Gary Fast, Gregg Dalman, Kyle Patrick and Dain Naida for a hotly contested 2006 crown.
Those five will be joined by a host of other contenders on Saturday night, including 2005 Sprints on Dirt champion Tim Norman, who sets his sights on a second series title after a work-related injury forced him to miss a pair of events last year.
Mackey earned the 2006 championship on the strength of a series-best five feature wins. None of those came at Crystal Motor Speedway, as the track offered up a variety of winners with Mike Brecht, Steve Irwin and Dustin Daggett each taking Crystal wins.
Saturday’s action at Crystal Motor Speedway goes green at 7:30 p. m.
Crystal Motor Speedway is located in Crystal, MI, 5.5 miles north of SR 57 on Crystal Road, then east on Sidney. For more information, contact the track at 989-235-5200.
