ASCS Sprints On Dirt Returns To Action At Hartford Speedway Park

After a pair of weekends off to regroup, the Engine Pro ASCS Sprints on Dirt presented by Victor Reinz return to action Friday night as the series takes to the high-banked, ½-mile Hartford Speedway Park clay oval in Hartford, MI.

It marks the series second stop of the season at Hartford Speedway Park, with Dustin Daggett of Portland, MI, topping the first event on May 11.

And Daggett has carried the hottest of ASCS Sprints on Dirt hands thus far in 2007, reaching victory lane in four of five series starts. Daggett finished second in his other outing.

But with Daggett missing one event, it is Goshen, Indiana’s Brett Mann that leads the series championship points race into Friday night’s event. Mann has utilized consistency to build a 22-point lead over two-time series champion Tim Norman, finishing among the top five in all six series events thus far.

A June 1 winner at I-96 Speedway, Norman surrendered the points lead with a DNF in the series most recent event on June 9 at Merritt Speedway.

Ben Rutan of Jerome, MI, enters Friday’s card ranked third, 30 points behind Norman. Bill Johnson of Linden, MI, and Gary Fast of Kalkaska, MI, round out the current top five.

The balance of the current top ten includes rookie contender Ryan Ruhl of Angola, IN, and Daggett, who are tied for sixth, along with Joe Bares (Traverse City, MI), Ryan Grubaugh (St. Johns, MI) and Dain Naida (Belleville, MI).

Friday’s action at Hartford Speedway Park fires off at 8:00 p. m.

Hartford Speedway Park is located in Hartford, MI, off I-94 Exit 46, then 1.3 miles north on Center Street, then four blocks west on Prospect Street.

The 28th year of action for the ASCS Sprints on Dirt consists of 20 championship events at ten different tracks throughout Michigan as well as Ontario.

The 2007 season marks the 16th year of sanctioning Sprint Car racing for the American Sprint Car Series. With a dozen different Regions in addition to the O’Reilly American Sprint Cars on Tour National series, ASCS will sanction approximately 240 nights of racing at more than 100 different race tracks throughout at least 30 different states and Canada.
