Alain Bergeron and his team were at CanAm Motorsports Park, at Lafargeville NY, yesterday (Saturday) night for a race of the ESS series.
With 40 cars in the pits, qualifying for the A-Main was not an automatic task. Bergeron was fifth on the starting grid in his heat. After a difficult start when he ended up in seventh place after one lap, he came back to finish in third. Good for a spot in the A-Main.
In A-Main, on a tacky and very fast track, the Canadian driver managed to complete the race in seventh after having started in ninth place. That was a seventh top 10 in seven A-Main races this season.
In 2009, Alain Bergeron is in his 10th season at the wheel of a full Sprint Car. Those racing machines are among the fastest in the world.
In 2006, the Saint-Pie native was crowned the 2006 ESS tour champion after a very good 2005 year as he finished in fifth place in the point standing and he had been champion of the ‘Gater Racing News Lap Leader Award’
Bergeron was the first Canadian to win a Sprint Car race with
the ESS in 2000. Sprint Cars are one of the most popular type of racing in the United Sates and at the end of the 2001 season, in his second year driving a Sprint Car, he had the most wins of any driver in the series with 3.
Racing with the ESS since only 6 years, Alain Bergeron is already in 18th position in the all-time winners list of the series. Throughout this season, we will inform you of his results and
various news from Team Bergeron, while Alain will be on the road competing to the best of his abilities. Alain Bergeron’s hometown is Saint-Pie-de-Bagot and he is a former champion in Mini-Sprint and ATV, both on dirt and ice surfaces.
