Always one of the highlights of the season, the Brad Doty Classic is right around the corner for the World of Outlaws on Wednesday, July 11. The 19th annual edition of the event, which honors the Hall of Fame driver who has given so much to the sport of sprint car racing, will be held for the second straight season at the state-of-the art ¼-mile Limaland Motorsports Park in Lima, Ohio.

Last season, Joey Saldana turned in a very dominating performance en route to capturing his first win in the storied event. He began the night by setting fast time, and went on to lead all 40 of the A-Feature laps around Limaland Motorsports Park, in the World of Outlaws first visit to the track since 1979.

Saldana will attempt to repeat again this season, with one of the toughest line-ups in the history of the series in place, including the likes of 20-time World of Outlaws Champion Steve Kinser, who has won twice at Limaland Motorsports Park in his career, as well as reigning series champion Donny Schatz. Also in attendance will be 2001 World of Outlaws Champion Danny Lasoski, along with current title contenders: Daryn Pittman, Craig Dollansky, Terry McCarl, who earned a runner-up finish in the event last season, and Jason Meyers.

Also, Jac Haudenschild from Wooster, Ohio will be on-hand thrilling the crowd with his always aggressive driving style, as well as fellow Ohio native and reigning Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year Chad Kemenah, among others. Doty, who won 11 World of Outlaws A-Feature events during his storied career, will again be promoting the event this season, in addition to his current role as the color commentator for the 12 World of Outlaws events broadcast on SPEED on Sunday afternoons throughout the season.

“Promoting is still new to me and I learn more and more each day, ” explained Doty. “Having been a driver helps, because I can relate to what the drivers need and I make sure to keep that in mind when organizing the event. Also, from my television work, up in the booth, I am able to fully see and realize how important the promoter’s are, which I never realized when I was driving. ”
