Brett Mann Still Leads The Engine Pro ASCS Sprints On Dirt

Although shut out of victory lane through the opening seven events of the season, Goshen, Indiana’s Brett Mann still leads the Engine Pro ASCS Sprints on Dirt presented by Victor Reinz into this weekend’s pair of events in Michigan.

On Friday night, the series takes to I-96 Speedway in Lake Odessa, MI, for the second time this season. Then on Saturday, the series takes part in Owendale Speedway’s “Super Race Day”.

Finishing among the top five in all seven feature events thus far, Mann holds a slim 16 point lead over two-time ASCS Sprints on Dirt champion Tim Norman of Warsaw, IN. Norman topped the ASCS Sprints on Dirt stop at I-96 Speedway on June 1.

Jerome, Michigan’s Ben Rutan enters the weekend double ranked third, with Bill Johnson of Linden, MI, and Gary Fast of Kalkaska, MI, rounding out the current top five.

Despite missing one event, Dustin Daggett of Portland, MI, has climbed back up to sixth in points on the strength of five wins in six starts.

Joe Bares of Traverse City, MI, enters the weekend ranked seventh, with the balance of the current top ten including rookie contender Ryan Ruhl (Angola, IN), Dain Naida (Bellville, MI) and 17-year-old rookie shoe Jake Stebner (Elmira, MI).

Friday’s action at I-96 Speedway fires off at 8:00 p. m., with Saturday’s “Super Race Day” at Owendale Speedway getting under way at 3:30 p. m. The Sprint portion of “Super Race Day” gets under way later in the day.
