The World of Outlaws have competed a total of 15 times at The Dirt Track @ Lowe’s Motor Speedway dating back to 2000. For 15 consecutive days leading up to the inaugural Outlaws World Finals, each of those 15 events will be recounted, culminating with the opening night of inaugural Outlaws World Finals on November 1 at The Dirt Track @ Lowe’s Motor Speedway. Today will focus on the 14th of those 15 events which was contested on May 24, 2006.
Kevin Swindell became the youngest A-Feature winner in World of Outlaws history, at the age of 17, leading all 25 laps to pick up the $10,000 win. The son of three-time World of Outlaws champion Sammy Swindell also won the Crane Cams Dash to earn the pole position for the A-Feature.
Chad Kemenah, the 2006 Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year, finished second.
Tim Shaffer finished fourth, filling in for Terry McCarl who had suffered a broken left leg earlier in the month.
Donny Schatz finished fifth, after winning the B-Main to race his way into the A-Feature, with Jason Meyers sixth, Daryn Pittman seventh, Joey Saldana eighth and Craig Dollansky ninth.
Other current World of Outlaws drivers that competed in the event included: Justin Henderson, Jeremy Campbell, Jason Solwold, Paul McMahan, Jac Haudenschild, and Tony Bruce Jr.
Henderson paced the 51 cars that turned a lap in time trials, in his first visit to the track.
The inaugural Outlaws World Finals featuring the World of Outlaws and the World of Outlaws Late Model Series are set for November 1-3, with the finale of the event set to be broadcast LIVE on SPEED on November 3 from 8-11 p. m. Eastern.
