Barry Klinedinst Motorsports and 2006 Mid-Atlantic Championship Series (MACS) Champion Jason Covert had their weekend plans changed for them again this past weekend as weather would again play havoc on their original intentions.
Covert and team drove all the way to the 360 OTC World of Outlaws Late Model Series sanctioned “Cabin Fever 50’ that was scheduled to be held at New Egypt Speedway in New Egypt, NJ but wet weather earlier in the week forced New Egypt Speedway to postpone the event. The team decided to pack up and head back west to Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, PA.
The decision to make the trip to Williams Grove turned out to be a good one as Jason was able to finish third in his Pre-Mach, Inc. /Red Wing Shoes/Hershey’s Racing Engines/ Baker Carburetion/Bam’s Auto Center/Kuppy’s Diner/Rocket Chassis Monte Carlo. “It was an okay night, ” said Covert, “I was just a little to tight to race with those guys, (race winner Rick Eckert and runner-up Gary Stuhler) we ran with Eckert there for a little bit but then he just got away from us. But it was a good run. “
The next night Jason and team found themselves at Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway in Jamaica, VA for the ‘Rumble on the River III’ sanctioned by the 360 OTC World of Outlaws Late Model Series. Covert was able to transfer to the $10,000 to win A-Main through his heat race by virtue of his sixth place finish. Unfortunately Jason didn’t fair so well in the ‘Rumble on the River III’ as the team missed the setup and was regulated to a 17th place finish after pulling off on lap 35 due to a ill handling race car.
