Cox Captures First Career ASCS Feature Victory at Casper Speedway

Justyn Cox captured his first career American Sprint Car Series feature win by topping Friday night’s 25-lap ASCS Rocky Mountain Region main event at Casper Speedway.

The 15-year-old Sacramento, CA, shoe took advantage of a Ned Powers miscue just a handful of laps from the checkered flag to snare the win aboard the STL/Justice Bros. No. 5h A.R.T.

After D.J. Brink paced the opening eight rounds, Cox and Powers soon moved to the front and battled for the point from the midway mark until the 20th round when Powers looped it out of contention.

Cox went on to take the checkered flag ahead of Joe Ramaker, with Nick Haygood, Randy Pierce and Zach Merritt rounding out the top five.  Joshua Williams raced from 17th to sixth, with Bob Schaeffer, Shad Peterson, Jake Ossenfort and Brett Ream completing the top ten.

Ossenfort, who led the tenth round before spinning, rebounded for a good enough finish to move atop the ASCS Rocky Mountain Region points charts by eight markers over Jeremy McCune, who finished 15th.

Ramaker, Ossenfort and Haygood topped heat race action for the 24-car field.
