Andy Shouse has announced he will run for the 2007 series championship in the O Reilly NCRA Sprint Car Series, presented by ICM/Ethanol.
His only season with the NCRA was in 2002, when he finished fifth in points and won the series Sprint Car Rookie of the Year award. Since then, Shouse has mostly raced close to his Oklahoma City home. He did run with the ASCS Sooner Region in 2004 and tied for the championship. The 26-year-old driver cited two reasons for returning to the NCRA.
“I like the way C. Ray (Hall, NCRA promoter) runs his shows and I like a lot of the racetracks in Kansas, ” he said. Shouse says many of the tracks around Oklahoma City tend to be heavy, which creates a lot of follow-the-leader racing. “Racetracks in Kansas are usually a little dryer and if you draw a bad pill, it s not like you re stuck in the back, ” he said. “It can still be that way, but usually the racetracks aren t locked down, follow-the-leader heavy. ”
